Style Diary: Fashion Blogger Who Paints on Jackets

Art, fashion, writing, and music are my passions. For some reason though I have always loved art and fashion more than singing. I think the reason why I love art and fashion more, is because no one can control or tell me what to do. Also, there are no limits and it's not competitive. Whereas, in singing someone always wants to be heard and be the best. As a Christian we are supposed to be singing for the glory of God, but sometimes that is not always the case and people still focus on being heard by man instead of by God.

Painting on clothes is so much fun to me because it helps me feel different. It helps me stand out as an individual. I was taught to be unique, and that is what painting on my clothes helps me be. I want to encourage others to stand out and do what they love as well. As an artist I think I see the world differently then others at times. A lot of people won't understand or get my art but that is okay because art is a personal thing. It is very intimate and something that you are choosing to share with the world.

I have been painting on my clothes since the beginning of this year until now, and I think I am going to continue painting on my clothes.

January 2016:

"I think true success comes when you no longer care about 'stunting' on your haters, because you are too busy to care."

"Many people are not going to like your designs or they may try to down you, but keep moving forward."

"If I would have never prayed and served God I would not be where I am today."
 July 2016:
"If I had listened to everyone who told me I wasn't pretty enough, thin enough, good enough, fashionable enough, or who told me I shouldn't have painted on my clothes, that my coat is ugly, or anything else I would not be here. All the glory goes to God."

DIY ALERT: How to Create Your Own Graffiti Art Jacket and Accessories to Match!

Hello, all of my Fancy Mouse readers! Last weekend I actually attended the Simply Stylist Fashion conference at the Dana Hotel and Spa. I also came up with a stellar outfit that I am going to explain to you (in writing because it's that simple) how to create your own graffiti/ Jean Michel Basquiat inspired look.

For the Jacket:

This jacket was inexpensive and came from a vendor on Aliexpress. What I did was buy the jacket and then re-tweaked it with my paint set since I am a painter. It was a blast! Here is the link to get the jacket.

Here are a few tips when you receive this jacket:

1. MAKE IT YOUR OWN!
Yes it is already "designed" but do not be afraid to add a few more splatters, or sew some new things on it. It is a very plain jacket that can bring the inner artist out of you.

2. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO STRUT YOUR STUFF
Being fierce can be scary at first but just be you! Some people may not like you or your outfit, and that is okay. Tell them "oh well" and keep moving. As long as your heels are high, and your jacket is making top designers ask you where on earth did you get that super hot jacket, then no one else's opinion should matter.

3. TAKE A RISK
A lot of people think fashion is just looking cute or wearing high fashion when really it is an ART. One of the things I enjoy is turning my art pieces into wearable art.

For the Shoes:

Faux fur high heel shoes have a special place in my heart. I basically created my own shoes because I am a broke college student saving for a car. So if you're a college student that is still trying to look fashionable but you have bills to pay then listen up (well read up)

How to make your own FAUX FUR HIGH HEELS:

1. Get a pair of old or new (I chose old) heels:

These were actually my old prom shoes, and I decided they needed a new classy identity.

2. You can choose to recycle some fabric (what I did) or buy some fabric:

This was an old furry black purse that was just sitting around. Next I just took to some scissors measured (not mathematically) what parts I needed to clip off. After that I half glue gun and half super glued the fabric down.

For the Purse:

After I finished my shoes I noticed I still had fabric left and paint. My purse is a thrift store bought bag.

1. Buy a new or used purse

2. Splatter paint, sew new decals on it, etc.
For splattered paint it took all night to dry and it gets messy

3. I hot glue gunned and super glued the fur at the bottom

And there you have it a new super High fashion Street Style Outfit

A Fashion Blogger Approved Power Food: Chia Seeds

Summer is still here to stay for a few months so it is not too late to try to eat healthy! Get that summer body or just try to start a healthier lifestyle. Although, they are not proved to link to a great amount of weight loss they can help your body become healthier.

So for the past two months I have been putting them in my smoothies, water, and in my oatmeal. I did lose about 3 pounds, and I can say that they do help you feel fuller for a while. The seeds kind of create a type of gelatin when placed in water or another liquid.

Chia seeds also really help with heart health and also really help to reverse diabetes among other sicknesses.
Here are a few background facts on Chia Seeds:

1.   They were originally found and grown in Mexico
2.   They have high omega-3 fatty acids
3.   They also provide healthy carbohydrates, fiber, antioxidants, and calcium
4.   Chia seeds are unprocessed and whole grain and can be absorbed by the body
5.   Chia seeds provide a ton of fiber

For Beauty:

1.   Prevent and slow down skin aging
a.   Speeds up the skin’s repair system
Overall Health:

1.   Improves digestive health
2.   Can help and act as a detox for the body
3.   Help you build muscle because it is also a good source of protein
4.   Can help strengthen bones

So maybe you heard that they help lose weight. Well doing research from MedicalNews Today they really don’t help lose weight, but feeling fuller and suppressing appetite can help lead to weight lost. I highly suggest adding them to your diet. Click here for more information about Chia seeds.

9 Lessons That Can Be Learned from the Savanna Hartman Video

On July 7th, 2016, Alton Sterling was shot down and killed by an armed Policeman. Shortly after this was the murder of Philando Castile, and the Dallas police shooting. A lot of tragic events have occurred in the United States this past week. Many people have been questions and Savannah Hartman has the answers. Savannah Hartman is the Pastor at Banner Church in Tampa, Florida; she is also the CEO of “Market My Mission”, which is an organization that promotes non-for-profit organizations and churches. Savannah Hartman was among many people who spoke out about the injustice that face the Black community as well as the world. She shared a video on Facebook that has been viewed 17 million times. The video has a very powerful message that this nation has yet to receive. Here are a few lessons that Savannah Hartman teaches in her video:

1.   Educate and Acknowledge white privilege
Savanna starts off first acknowledging and even apologizing for her white privilege. She explicitly states, “I wasn’t born rich but don’t get it twisted my white skin is my privilege.” It starts with educating oneself, no matter what the color of skin, and acknowledging that there is a such thing as white privilege.
2.   Talk about the issue
“The past doesn’t disappear when it’s offensive to you.” Savanna stresses that race, privilege, and not injustice is something that needs to be talked about. That we cannot just shrug it off and cast it to the side. Just because something makes us feel uncomfortable doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t be heard. If the nation wants to progress it starts with facing the problem even if it makes us feel uncomfortable.
3.   We are all the same
“We act like they are poor, and gross, and make fun of their clothes, yet we keep their culture, style, and weaves.” This may seem Black and White but this applies to everyone. Everyone has heard the saying, “The only race is the human race,” which is completely true because a lot of times as people we like to think that just because someone else has a different skin color or a different background that they are somehow different when really they are not.
4.   Senseless Behavior on all sides are wrong
The Dallas police shooting, riots, and the Black victim that have died due to social injustice is all wrong. No one is right here and no one is able to get away with this. Not all Black people are thugs just like not all police men are bad.
5.   Christ Preserved all of our lives by dying on the cross
“Stop blaming them like their deaths were deserved. We all deserve death, but our lives were preserved by Christ’s work on the cross, He paid for our sins so we don’t have to make mistakes again.” By Christ dying on the cross for us we have a new chance at life. We are able to be reborn and it all starts with love.
6.   Walk in LOVE
“Don’t scream, and don’t fight start walking in love. Take the masks off your eyes and remove your gloves.” Ephesians 5:2 tells us to walk in love, because Christ has loved us and sacrificed His life for us. It is easy to fight fire with fire, because we’re hurt and angry, but do not forget God knows that this nation is hurting give it to Him and he will fight your battles. We all need to try to understand what each person is going through no matter what color of skin they have.
7.   Changing the future and being accountable for our actions
As we near the end Savanna starts saying how it is important to have a better future, and how we still have to be accountable for our actions. “We can’t change the past, but we can change what’s ahead. We can change who we are so less people are dead, with accountability for our actions and a voice for our cause. We can form new statues, and create new lives.
8.   It starts with YOU
“It only takes one person to stand up and say: ‘I want to stand up for this, [because] this is not the way.” All it takes is for one person no matter what race he or she is to stand up for justice. If someone stands up, then we all will follow and we can look forward to a brighter future.
9.   Prayer does change things
We can continue to try to solve things the way we want to but in God’s word He says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” (Hosea 4:6) As human we are a fallen and flawed creation we can try to figure things out on our own, but look at what has happened. We have caused many Black men to lose their lives, innocent policemen to be killed, and riots. We are so focused on creating movies like The Purge and so many other distractions that we forgot to fall on our knees and pray. Wake up America, and realize that we cannot solve everything on our own. We need to fall on our knees and pray.

Mommy's Closet and A Fashion Blogger's Rite of Passage

Mom's Closet

Faux fur coat / IRO short skirt, $710 / Schutz leather sandals / A V Max long necklace / Dutch Basics golden earring / Our Legacy mens silk shirt, $185 / Chanel lipstick

If you ask any girl or woman where she gets her style inspiration from they would probably list their favorite designers or where the things that impacted them personally. Yet, if you really think about it every fashionista was once a child or is probably growing up. A part that is necessary to growing up is fashion blogger's rite of passage. Going to your mother's closet and playing dress up around the age of 4 and 5 can signify the beginning and birth of a true fashionista. Seeing items that are signify your mother and the things that she has been through. The scent on her clothing; expensive Chanel No. 5 and classic Dior. Then once you are done with her closet you go to her vanity to look at all the makeup utensils she uses. When you look on her vanity you see everything on there from the professional brushes she uses to the bronzers.

Looking through a mom's closet can be very enlightening and actually save tons of money. In today's fashion world almost every decade is in style and who else room to go to then your mommy's? (I sometimes even go as far as to my grandmother's closet). Sometimes your mom's closet is the most convenient because instead of always spending more money on clothes that are being re-modernize why not get the authentic thing from her closet or the thrift store.

Clothes have such a deeper meaning to them than just how cute you look and a self expression. In earlier decades clothes were actually designed to last which is why a lot of old have such great quality. There's something great about feeling vintage clothes especially from mom's closet. the velvety-ness, the scent of her perfume, or even the story behind it. It gives of nostalgic memories of when you were younger and in her arms, but at the same time it shows that the baby bird has finally grown up. the baby bird has finally blossomed into a strong bird like her mother.

NOTE:
*So I really apologize because I got my silky shirt from my mommy dearest closet, my real leather skirt from a thrift store those places are the best!), my shoes are from the thrift store as well, my bag from Love Culture, and my faur fur two toned jacket from Choies!*

Modern Fashion Icon: Seven Times Rihanna's Style Owned 2016, Quotes, and Body Image Tips

This year Rihanna totally slayed the fashion game. Not only did she slay, but she also released a new album, went on tour, sung at the Billboard music Awards, released her new line with Manolo and FentyXPuma, and founded a scholarship program for island high school and college students. Rihanna even received the Fashion Icon Award back in 2014. Is there anything she can't do? Here are a few of her outfits that totally stunned each and everyone:

1. Pin Stripes

On being different:
When I was fourteen and first started going out, I always wanted to be the opposite of everyone else. So I would go to the club in a polo T-shirt and pants and sneakers and a hat on backward, just so I would not be dressed like other girls.

2. Gorgeous In Green

3. The Fader Look

On Music:
It is one thing to record an album but it's a huge difference when people play it and listen to it and embrace it the way that I do. It has always been my dream to get my music out to the world and have people hear it

4. New York Fashion Week FentyXPuma

On fashion:
When I am putting looks together, I dare myself to make something work. I always look for the most interesting silhouette or something that's a little off, but I have to figure it out. I have to make it me. I think that's the thrill in fashion.

5.  Stance Socks

On Mamas and standards:
My mother would kill me if I posed nude! My mother raised me with certain standards.
6.  Denim and Puma

On the Gym and Working out:
I hate going to the gym and doing it the old-fashioned way. I hate anything that's too straightforward, too routine, too familiar. I get bored really, really quickly.

7.  Billboard Music Awards 2016

On ruling the Fashion Game:

"Growing up I didn't have a lot of access to fashion. But as far as I could remember, fashion has always been my defense mechanism. Even as a child I remember thinking, 'She can beat me, but she cannot beat my outfit.' And to this day I mean, that is how I think about it. I can compensate for all my weaknesses with my fashion. And so really, you really can."

On Faith:
"God just has a way of working things out the way He wants to and you have no say in that." -Rihanna

Vintage Inspired: Quotes and Looks

Some days as fashionistas, and bloggers we need a little inspiration. Something that's not too modern or too trendy. There is always a great time to pull out some vintage looks whether from a thrift store or an upscale vintage store. When it comes living in the fashion world and even being inspired there is a need for fashion icons, and outfit inspiration like these five quotes from Audrey Hepburn, and my vintage style look book.

Five Audrey Hepburn Style & Life Quotes to Live By:

1. "The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries or the way she combs her hair."

2. "For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone."
3. "The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides."

4. "The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mode but the true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives the passion that she shows. The beauty of a woman grows with the passing years."

5. "I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it's the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It's probably the most important thing in a person."

Fashion Bloggers:How to Stay Inspired Even When It Gets Tough

Sometimes the going can get tough for a lot of people. No matter what happens though you still have to push threw, but there are some days when no one really feels like going. Being a fashion blogger can be especially tough, because actually it's expensive. Any business you want to grow you have to spend money for it to increase or grow. If your goal is to make money from your blog then you must spend money to make money. Nothing is handed to you you have to work for it. Sometimes as fashion bloggers we might want to give up because there are so many fashion bloggers now and days and you might be feeling like what's the point? The point it that you're doing what you love. Just make sure you're not another fashion blog make sure yours is different from others. So here are a few tips from me to stay encouraged on your blogging journey:

FOCUS ON YOU!

A lot of other sites say, "network with other bloggers, and visit their pages," that's all fine and dandy, but don't compare your blog if you know you're not at their level yet. Focus on your blog and how you are going to make yours stand out. It can become discouraging (trust me I know) constantly looking at top fashion bloggers fashion blogs. They did not get their over night so don't put that kind of pressure on yourself. Just be you, and success with come naturally.

DO THE OPPOSITE OF EVERYONE ELSE

I know this can be challenging but look deep into yourself, and see what you have to offer that others don't. Don't just do what every other Fashion blogger or blogger is doing. Yes, everyone loves fashion but what more do you have to offer than just fashion? Do you paint? Do you dance? Write? Have a book club?

DO NETWORK AND TRY COLLABORATIONS

I know that this sounds like I am contradicting myself, but what I mean here is to still network just do not make that your entire focus. So still network, because you never know if you'll become close friends with another fashion blogger. Then after you become friends or meet you can try to set up a fashion blogger duo or do a collaboration on something. You never know what others have to offer until you meet others.

THE PROCESS WILL BE LONG BUT IT'S WORTH IT

Not everyone will be the next Aimee Song or Anna Wintour, but what counts is that you did what you were passionate about. Sometimes we want to rush our success, but the main thing is that it is worth it whether or not you are successful. It can be a learning experience both ways: if you made it and if you did not. making money on blogs can  sometimes take longer for others because some do not have the funds to buy all the things that come with a fashion blog, and some do. The road might be long and hard, but if you keep working at it you will get there.

Stay encouraged and keep pushing because it can get hard, but just stay patient.
