DIY ALERT: How to Create Your Own Graffiti Art Jacket and Accessories to Match!

Hello, all of my Fancy Mouse readers! Last weekend I actually attended the Simply Stylist Fashion conference at the Dana Hotel and Spa. I also came up with a stellar outfit that I am going to explain to you (in writing because it's that simple) how to create your own graffiti/ Jean Michel Basquiat inspired look. 

For the Jacket: 

This jacket was inexpensive and came from a vendor on Aliexpress. What I did was buy the jacket and then re-tweaked it with my paint set since I am a painter. It was a blast! Here is the link to get the jacket. 

Here are a few tips when you receive this jacket:

1. MAKE IT YOUR OWN!

Yes it is already "designed" but do not be afraid to add a few more splatters, or sew some new things on it. It is a very plain jacket that can bring the inner artist out of you.

2. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO STRUT YOUR STUFF

Being fierce can be scary at first but just be you! Some people may not like you or your outfit, and that is okay. Tell them "oh well" and keep moving. As long as your heels are high, and your jacket is making top designers ask you where on earth did you get that super hot jacket, then no one else's opinion should matter. 

3. TAKE A RISK

A lot of people think fashion is just looking cute or wearing high fashion when really it is an ART. One of the things I enjoy is turning my art pieces into wearable art. 

For the Shoes: 

Faux fur high heel shoes have a special place in my heart. I basically created my own shoes because I am a broke college student saving for a car. So if you're a college student that is still trying to look fashionable but you have bills to pay then listen up (well read up)

How to make your own FAUX FUR HIGH HEELS:

1. Get a pair of old or new (I chose old) heels:

These were actually my old prom shoes, and I decided they needed a new classy identity.

2. You can choose to recycle some fabric (what I did) or buy some fabric:

This was an old furry black purse that was just sitting around. Next I just took to some scissors measured (not mathematically) what parts I needed to clip off. After that I half glue gun and half super glued the fabric down. 

For the Purse: 

After I finished my shoes I noticed I still had fabric left and paint. My purse is a thrift store bought bag. 

1. Buy a new or used purse

2. Splatter paint, sew new decals on it, etc.

For splattered paint it took all night to dry and it gets messy

3. I hot glue gunned and super glued the fur at the bottom

And there you have it a new super High fashion Street Style Outfit

DIY ALERT: How to Retweak and Reuse Old Jewelry Pieces

Hey FancyMousketeers, lovely Thursday isn't it? Jewelry: we all love it (okay, not all but you get the gist of it...). Well, most of us do and if you're like a super fashion-fanatic-Breakfast at Tiffany's obsessed gal like me, then you understand how sometimes jewelry breaks your pockets way more than clothes. I mean, we all have an inner Holly Golightly I guess some just need to dig a little deeper. Still, are you tired of constantly going to (insert the place you go to get your jewelry), and tired of fantasizing about diamonds and pearls from Tiffany & Co.'s? Well, I may not have someone in Sing-Sing like Holly G, but I can certainly help make jewelry feel new again! Especially, for broke college fashionistas like me that don't have a lot of spending money.

First, off I want to apologize for not including pictures of the materials needed for this DIY project (this was kind of a creative spark thing!). So we all have broken necklaces, rusted jewelry, and some furry things lying around (well at least I do!). Well, I was thinking hey why not remake a broken necklace into some dazzling earrings and a rusted necklace into a new modern faux fur necklace.

Here are the things you may need and some suggestions:
-An old or thrift store bought necklace
-Some faux fur; I got mine from an old Love Pink jacket I bought, or you can go to the thrift store and find some faux fur as well
-Super glue like the real stuff I use Loc-Tite
-Old mini studs like really small

Okay this project is super easy like for real. Still, it's really fluid so you can use your own artistic vibes and add your own style!

Here are both of my new and improved earrings:

These were originally a part of a necklace I bought from Forever 21 about two or one and a half years ago. What I did was use flat mini stud earrings (tiny earrings). Stuck them in the inside or on the back of the torn of necklace piece, and viola! I had two new huge stud earrings. Do you think Holly Golightly would approve? (Hope so!)

These are technically new/cheap little things. To me they went from cheap to chic. All I did was buy some five dollar heart studs from a local beauty supply store and add a little faux fur to them. I mean, I have not really seen that many people with faux fur on their earrings. So this could be a way you could take a bold stance at being different. It's really simple all you have to do is buy some inexpensive earrings and add a little faux fur. 

Got a rusted necklace? No Problem!

Oh dear, a rusted/discolored necklace is a tragedy (in my best Holly Golightly voice imitation). What should we do instead of throwing it out? Add some faux fur! First, you take the Loc-Tite super glue (just as you would in all other projects) and smear it onto the part of the necklace you want the fur to go onto and then you just grab the faux fur and press down hardly onto the desired spot until you think it is secured. Well there you have it FancyMouseketeers, there's a new way to still rock your favorite jewelry pieces even when they get old. No jewelry funds because of college and bills? No problem! Just pull out the super glue or glue gun and recycle old pieces.

Last week I was talking about my skin regime and how I discovered this adorable skincare and makeup company. As a lazy skin care person I love to throw masks on my face when I come in late and too tired to wash my face. My skin is oily and this has really been helping me maintain the oily-ness in my skin. For the past two days I have not really seen any new bumps. Also, my skin feels softer so I would rate this a 4.5 out of 5. The only reason why I saw not a 5 is because it is pretty small for the price. I knew it was small but 22 dollars plus 4.10 (I think) for shipping is kind of a lot. Glossier (I Wish) and New Skincare Regime(DIY Based)!

Hey guys, I just ended my sophomore year of college and it was a great year for me (but I am saving that for another blog post)! Anyways, it has been awhile since I have posted about what I have been using consistently! So here go nothing...

Right now, I have become very attracted to Glossier's online store. While, I have not bought any products yet (I am deciding on doing that) I have read a ton of reviews and love their natural products so I am kind of excited to buy my mask tomorrow. So right now, I have been kind of diy-ing my skin care routine. Like, today I looked up a skin brightener online and it gave me about three easy steps (I added a few!)

Natural Skin Brightener:

-1 tbsp of coconut milk (I used oil)

-1 tbsp of honey

- 1 tbsp of lemon juice

-and some days I add ginger

Okay, so some stuff my mom has looked up and told me and I just want to share it with you guys! So lately I have been using Selsun Blue shampoo dandruff control with salicylic acid and using grapeseed oil as a moisturizer. I know some people may think that I am crazy for using shampoo as a facial cleanser but it has salicylic acid in it, which is put in most facial cleansers. My face has been clearing up and I have been using that for about 2 weeks straight. So I am pretty happy about. Also, for my fellow oily faced girls, I have discovered that grape seed  oil helps with oily skin and even skin tones naturally. This is like the only moisturizer in my entire life that gives me a dewy glow and my skin does not feel oily. Never in my life has anything else ever worked, and my face has cleared up tremendously. Another oil that works for eyelash growth is castor oil. I need to do some repair on my eyelashes. So I might give up mascara for a while and go natural (which will be challenging for me because I love mascara!) Well, there you have it girls or guys that's my beauty regime. It's pretty natural but I cannot wait to try my new Glossier face mask, and give you guys my code next time.

In this article I do want to talk about how I add my little white faux fur neck collar to almost all of my thrift store finds. Basically, this was just a thought because in July I bought a gorgeous white cape coat and the neck collar was removable. So what I do is I take the neck collar, I get a few safety pins and pin them around my collar and viola! A fancy little faux fur neck collar to every jacket. It goes from a thrift store find to a BooHoo or SheIn styled jacket. Also, I love those stores so please check them out! www.shein.com and/or www.boohoo.com.
