Dorothy Dandridge

I never really knew about Dorothy Dandridge until my sister said something abut her today. Honestly, I was always admired Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, but I never really knew about Dorothy Dandridge she seems like an inspiring and person. I believe around her time she was not as popular because the color of her skin. Well, this just goes to show how little we know about our own culture. I know that I am not the only one that did not know about Dorothy Dandridge. A lot of people that are African American do not really know about her either. We idolize Audrey and Marilyn, not that it is a bad thing, but we do not know anything about Dorothy Dandridge. That is the saddest thing to me because her legacy died with her. That she wanted African American women to have the same recognition as other women. Like even with the natural hair movement and craze it is still sad that after years of having curly and coarse hair we have only recently learned how to maintain it and care for it. As women we are all caused to rise and when we are determined we cannot be stopped. Like with my blog I could easily give up but I am determined to keep pushing. My drive is strong and I cannot stop and I will not stop.

When I first read this article it jumped out at me, I mean like literally. I never knew about black Twitter or any of those things. Until just recently I realized that it is another hashtag for the modern day race issues. I am not going to lie I did like this article because it is trying to break some stereotypes that most people have about black women/females. This was a great way to fight off stereotypes. The first tweet says that not all black or any other race does not all look a like. Which is true for us too because we have different skin colors and different hair textures. Still, I kind of never really hear people say that well at least not from where I am from. 

The tweet that was really relevant to my life was the one about speaking proper english. A lot of African American people see it as talking "white" which makes no sense. Most of my childhood people thought I came from the suburbs. Most of them were shocked when they found out I was from the city just like them. I know that it is great idea that we are getting rid of that talking about the normal stereotypes.Still as women  we need to pull us all together and even if that means not only talking about our own social issues.We need to defend all women while we are defending our own ethnic group.

Go Hard For Christ Back to School Kick Off

I had so much fun at Go Hard for Christ's back to school kick off party. I also looked cute so I had to put my new TomTop Paris shirt on and do it for the blog lol. Me and my curvy-ness slayed hunty! I also had my natural hair going on so you know how that goes. I thought this was okay for a carnival like event not too dressy but not too simple either. 

I also got to see JMJ perform live and Joseph Solomon both phenomenal Christian Artists and they really inspired me with their love for God. This outfit was modest yet cute. I took a normal see through shirt and wore it differently than the average girl would. Usually, people would probably pick a short black crop top. Nothing is wrong with crop tops I just do not like when girls wear crop top all the time. Personally, I think you have very little fashion sense if that is all you wear. I kind of wanted to make a silent but classy statement that you can be just as cute as you would be with the black crop top.
