Has Modesty & Class Disappeared From the Fashion World?

Now and days it seems like we are dealing with feminism, body image, and now class and modesty. I really just want to know when did women that claim to be feminist or doing feminist type things like Beyonce start dressing like they have no self respect. Many people may hate me for saying what I think, but in today's generation I feel like women ask or want respect from men and wonder why they are not getting it. I believe if more women showed their bodied with respect then we would get it a little bit more. Not to say that men would automatically start respecting us, but it is a start. The dresses were nice, but what makes me wonder is do they really have to show so much skin? Is modesty and class really lost? One of the biggest things that I personally focus on is dressing modestly but still fashionable. I feel like we have lost so many valuable things in this generation. The saddest thing to me is that we have lost modesty. Men used to work for us and they used to take actually try, but now as many women in my family have said is that they do not have to try anymore. Our body parts are given to them with no price. No wonder dates barely exist, or guys just look at us as objects. Susan Fiske a psychology professor at Princeton did a study on young male undergraduates and how they view women in bikinis. The study showed that men who saw women in bikinis thought more about themselves thinking sentences starting with "I". When they saw more modestly dressed women  they thought more about what she wanted. In a way it is almost like men are dehumanizing the women based on how sexual they are dressed. I wonder if more people knew this: the designers, celebrities, and people in general, would we change the way fashion looked today. I believe as women we should bring respect and feminism back, and to start I think we need to make the change in the way we present ourselves.

CHOiES

Okay so I think I have fallen completely in love with CHOiES! My new favorite online store! I think it will be the only store I will be shopping at for the next few months! The prices are reasonable and the clothes are so minimalistic. I am even considering trying out the minimalist style for the fall. I just bought a gorgeous jumpsuit from CHOiES but unfortunately it is a tad too small, but do not worry I refuse to send that it back I am using it as motivation to lose weight because stylish clothes at reasonable prices is too hard to pass by. So for the next pass few weeks I will be working out and eating healthy. I know you should not want to lose weight to fit in clothes but I am also am trying to start to live a healthier lifestyl so once I do lose the weight I think I will continue to do lose it, because the freshmen 15 really got me. I also I already have a list of things I am buying for the fall there, now I just need a job.

Blue Jean Summer?

This summer will truly interesting fashion summer, with all the 90s fashion making a beautiful comeback and denim slowly creeping up. Is this something that we should be aiming towards? I am not usually a fan of denim but I love oversized clothes and an oversized vintage denim Pelle Pelle coat is definitely on the top of my list for right now. It would be gorgeous paired with a crop top and high waisted shorts.
So I guess the question that is occupying most people's minds are what am I going to say today that will help save money when trying to get into this summer trend. Well as always I say look around! Look at every thrift store you know and THEN if you cannot find anything else go to a regular store. A lot of the clothes will be overpriced right now which usually happens when a style or trend makes a comeback. Right now, as college students we have to focus on schoolwork but who says you can't look a little stylish?

90s Style Into Or Nah?

The 90s are back and you would have to be blind not to see the transition around you! I mean come on! Overalls, bantu knots, crop tops, stacks shoes, and kimonos you would have to be sleeping under a rock not to notice that. The problem for me is the modernization of the 90s style. I mean with overall I feel like people are trying to wear them a little too tight. I love how Rihanna does it she wears her overall bigger on her and loose. Her style is perfectly 90s and balanced with a nice way of making it modern.

I know these past few weeks I have not been writing about fashion but giving college advice, but I just want to get back into the fashion world. Now I think it is pretty easy for people to find their own style almost every time era has been recreated so in a way the decade you like the best could be your signature style. I wonder how long the 90s craze will last until we move into the 2000s and then now and the future. I wish that not only the clothes came back but some of the music like Lauryn Hill and Shai. The music back then was more heartfelt to me, but that is a different blog post not back to fashion. Mainly, the 90s style clothes can be found at the thrift store, Forever 21, or any other place. The place I really have been looking at and liking the style is this online store CHOiES. The style fits perfectly and it is really a great place to get unique clothes that are not usually seen at the stores most people shop at. For right now I think you can find the cutest crop tops and jumpsuits from CHOiES. The 90s style is something that I think that we will be into for awhile and that will be around for a year or two so stick around and stay ahead in the fashion world. Until next time.
