Internship Style LookBook: Carrie Diaries Inspired

Internship Essentials

Since I was 17 years old I loved the short lived tv series The Carrie Diaries. Basically, in short for those of you who do not know what the show was about it was the younger version of the Carrie Bradshaw we all know about. Before the city and the crazy lifestyle there was just Carrie Bradshaw. Throughout, the show she goes through crazy life challenges, designs a gorgeous purse, and scores an internship at a top magazine company. It was that show that really opened my eyes to fashion. Anything vintage attracts and I don't know why, but the 60's and the 80's will always be my favorite fashion decades. Anyways, this post is about internship outfits so let's get started!

This was Carrie's first internship outfit, and I absolutely loved it. If you love mixing and matching prints then this look will suit you! The print and the tied up dress blouse definitely gives it an 80's flair. Also, I apologize but I got my pink vintage 80's blouse from the thrift store. Still, after searching high and low on the internet I found this really cute mustard colored top from chicwish!

Here is an outfit I created Polyvore that you can try to recreate or buy: @colemakayla on Polyvore

Outfit Details:

This outfit is both modern and vintage at the same time. Just a pop of color and primary colors helps make it not too overwhelming. The lace on the skirt makes it a little more formal and fancy with the lace fringe at the bottom. The print on the purse compliments the mustard colored top, and makes it a great statement piece. Sporting this outfit at an interview, job, or internship will definitely turn heads and you might even get offered a position at Vogue or something. (Okay kidding about the last part, but still!) Also, check out The Carrie Diaries on Netflix there are only two seasons and comment what you like to wear for internships or don't like to wear.
